The People of Indonesia
Last year, I travelled around the island of Java in Indonesia. I was blown away by how friendly everyone was. There were times, particularly in Jakarta, where I felt like a celebrity. School kids were lining up with their selfie sticks waiting to have their photo taken with me.
Walking around the streets, I had people offering me random food, which being the world's fussiest vegetarian is a little scary, and drinks.
Even though there was a language barrier, it's not hard to know what people want when they see my camera and stand and pose for me.
The kids were definitely the highlight for me. Seeing them smile and laugh when showing them their picture on the screen of my digital camera was an amazing experience. Many of them don't have a lot and knowing that something as simple as taking their picture can bring them so much joy made my trip worthwhile.
